DEDHAM, Mass. —

One day after the schedule for Brian Walshe's murder trial was upset by an order that he undergo a competency evaluation at a state hospital, the case is due in a Massachusetts courtroom for a status conference.

The status hearing expected on Tuesday afternoon replaces the final pre-trial conference, which was originally expected to be held in the morning.

Brian Walshe's trial was previously scheduled to begin on Oct. 20, but that is now being rescheduled, the court docket said. He faces charges of murder, misleading a police investigation, and improper conveyance of a human body.

Ana Walshe, a 39-year-old mother of three from Cohasset, went missing around New Year's Day in 2023. Prosecutors believe Brian Walshe killed and dismembered her before disposing of the body.
