A TEXAS high school is mourning the loss of a football player.

Daniel Rivera died at 15 years old after collapsing on the sidelines during a game.

Rivera's collapse came on Friday, September 26th.

He was not playing in the game, but rather was there to support his team.

The school's Superintendent Brian Aiken and Athletic Director Brett Ratliff said he collapsed "due to a medical emergency unrelated to the game."

"Bulldog Nation," the school said in a statement.

"It is with a heavy heart that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our student and athlete, Daniel Rivera.

"Daniel was not only a dedicated student but also a passionate athlete, a loyal friend, and a cherished member of our Bulldog Family.
