EDISTO BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) -- A preliminary investigation into a weekend fire at the home of a Lowcountry judge has not revealed evidence of foul play, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

"At this time, there is no evidence to indicate the fire was intentionally set," SLED Chief Mark Keel said in a statement released Monday afternoon. "SLED Agents have preliminarily found there is no evidence to support a pre-fire explosion."

Firefighters responded to a fire around 10:40 a.m. Saturday at a home in a gated Edisto Beach neighborhood, belonging to Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein and her husband, former Democratic state Senator Arnold Goodstein.
