Shillong, Oct 7: The Khasi Students' Union (KSU) South West Khasi Hills District Unit has demanded the appointment of two regular assistant teachers at the Nongrim Warding Government LP School under Mawsynram C&RD Block.

In a letter to the District School Education Officer (DSEO) East Khasi Hills, the KSU said the school, which was established in 1972 and currently serves over 50 students, has been functioning without any regular or permanent teacher since June 2025.

Following the demise of a regular teacher, the school has relied on volunteer teachers appointed by the School Managing Committee for the past four months.

The KSU argues that this arrangement is unsustainable and jeopardizes the quality and continuity of learning for the children.
