Nongpoh, October 7: In response to the growing number of cases involving drunk and reckless driving, especially during nighttime, the Ri-Bhoi Police conducted a surprise checking operation along the National Highway on Friday night.
The operation was personally supervised by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ri-Bhoi, V.S. Rathore, accompanied by Addl. SP O. Massar, who also heads the Traffic Branch, and Rubul Ali, Traffic In-Charge of the Nongpoh Branch, along with several other police personnel.
According to police sources, the drive was carried out following a surge in road accidents across major highways caused by negligent and intoxicated drivers.
During the operation, police checked vehicles for unauthorized or high-beam lights, modified silencers contributing to noise pollution
