A large area of low pressure with rain and storms is spinning far out in the Atlantic Ocean. It sits a few hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Advertisement

Conditions look good for it to grow stronger. A tropical depression may form by the middle of the week as it moves WNW across the central Atlantic. It could reach near the northern Leeward Islands later this week. People in those areas should watch this system closely.

Our forecast models show 95L moving west-northwest and nearing the Lesser Antilles by the end of the week.
