AMITE CITY, La. —

The Amite City Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the shooting happened around 4:58 a.m. in the 400 block of East Factory Street. Advertisement

Police said they received reports of a potential gunshot victim inside a car parked in the road.

When they arrived at the scene, they found one person with what appeared to be a gunshot wound seated in the car.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.
