SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- The City of Sikeston announced the tragic death of Sikeston Department of Public Safety Officer Henry Franklin, who was killed in the line of duty on Oct. 6, 2025.

The city stated Franklin, a respected officer and member of the Tactical Team, was shot and killed while responding to a warrant service in Mississippi County.

"Our department has suffered an unimaginable loss," said Sikeston Department of Public Safety Director James McMillen. "We ask that you keep Franklin’s family and our department in your prayers."

Franklin joined the Sikeston Department of Public Safety in June 2013 and served as the handler for K9 Odin. He also had a history of service in the Army National Guard.
