ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police have captured the suspect in a deadly double shooting that left two people dead at a DeKalb County apartment complex Monday evening.

Steven Mathis, 25, was arrested by Henry County authorities just after midnight following a nearly five-hour manhunt. He is expected to face charges in the double homicide that occurred at the East Perimeter Pointe Apartments off Snapfinger Woods Drive.

Officers discovered a man and a woman dead inside one of the apartment units around 7:30 p.m. Monday. Neighbors reported they didn’t hear gunshots but saw police arrive at the scene.

“I’m more so shocked that it even happened over here for real,” said Gene Curtail, a neighbor who lives in the complex.
