BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The Louisiana NAACP is calling for the resignation of Louisiana State Police Col. Robert Hodges over the handling of the Kyren Lacy case.

“In our view, Colonel Hodges failed the public by attempting to justify the incident involving Kyren Lacy,” the organization stated. “This is unacceptable, and we are calling for his immediate resignation.”

Hodges, a New Orleans native, was appointed as the agency's superintendent in January 2024. He has served 30 years with the State Police.

"We are aware of the statement from the NAACP. The Louisiana State Police remains focused on its mission of public safety and service to the residents and visitors of Louisiana," the Louisiana State Police said.
