RED HOOK – A Red Hook man has been charged with starting a fire with construction material and waste last Friday evening for unlawful disposal of solid waste and violating the state burn ban.

The Tivoli Fire Department extinguished the flames as Red Hook Police and State DEC officers investigated.

State officers subsequently charged the property owner, a 56-year-old man whose name was not made public, with starting the fire. He is due in town court at a later date.

Because of the recent dry weather the state is currently under a temporary burn ban from October 2 – October 15, 2025.
