Johnny Andriac’s band class at Port Jervis Middle School last week became quite interesting, and it had nothing to do with the musical selections.

Andriac received a visit from offensive line coach Eric Hartmann, who informed him that he was moving up from jayvee to varsity. Let’s just say Andriac didn’t see the call-up coming. He is an eighth-grader who won’t celebrate his 14 th birthday until February.

“I was just ecstatic to be playing with the big kids,” said Andriac, a two-way lineman. “I never thought I would be on varsity at such a young age. It is amazing, but I have to continue to work hard to keep up with all the seniors, who have been supportive of me.”
