Dozens of purple shoes lined the courthouse steps on Monday evening, as attendees also clad in purple commemorated those lost and subject to domestic violence. Under dwindling gray light, a domestic violence survivor shared her story before a candlelit moment of silence.

The Rowan County Family Crisis Council candlelit vigil opened in prayer delivered by the Chair of the FCC Board of Directors Lara Musser-Gritter and was followed by a proclamation from the Mayor Pro Tem Harry McLaughlin.
