NORFOLK, Va. — The struggles continued for Norfolk State football as the Spartans fell 41-34 to Hampton in the annual Battle of the Bay, marking their fourth straight loss — and their third in a row decided by just one possession.

The loss wasn’t just tough on the field for head coach Michael Vick — it carried over into his own household. At his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Vick showed up wearing a Hampton Pirates hat, the result of a friendly wager with his wife, Kijafa, a Hampton alum.

“This hasn’t been the easiest day to walk around,” Vick said. “In terms of everything, including the hat I’ve got on right now. I lost a bet to my wife who is a Hampton alumnus.”
