MARION COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — An Illinois man was indicted by a Marion County grand jury for his role in a suspected human trafficking operation out of a spa.

Xiaoping Peng, 53, was charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, trafficking in persons for involuntary servitude and promoting prostitution — all felonies of varying degrees.

According to Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan, the charges stem from Peng’s participation in the operation of a prostitution enterprise out of the Chinese Spa at 1288 Delaware Ave.

Grogan said a monthslong investigation revealed Peng’s role in transporting women across state lines for sex work at the spa. The offenses spanned from March 6 through June 17, when a raid uncovered evidence of ongoing exploitation.
