Here are some observations from the Tigers’ 8-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners in Game 3 of the American League Division Series at Comerica Park in Detroit on Tuesday:
Backs against the wall
You just knew the Tigers weren’t going to keep this potent Mariners offense down forever, which is why it was so pivotal for Detroit to get that win with Tarik Skubal on the mound in Game 2. Now, following Seattle’s offensive outburst in Game 3, highlighted by trade-deadline acquisition Eugenio Suarez’s home run (his first hit of this series),
Detroit is definitely in desperation mode, playing for its playoff lives in Game 4 on Wednesday and, if fortunate enough, Game 5 back in Seattle on Friday. All hope is not lost, of course. The Tigers need to just look back at last year to see a time when they
