BOONE COUNTY, Ky. —
Students and staff at Walton-Verona Independent School District's Walton Campuses are safe and secure after a shelter-in-place was initiated Wednesday morning.
According to the district, the shelter-in-place order was put in place at 8:36 a.m. due to reports of a "suspicious individual on school property." Advertisement
An hour later, the district shared the Boone County Sheriff's office apprehended the suspect.
"It was believed the suspect was using our parking lot as a cut-through to a nearby neighborhood street," the district superintendent said in a letter to parents.
The lockdown has since been lifted and normal school operations have resumed.
