NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- The MTA is on a fast track to the future with two more subway lines set to get the R262 open gangway trains soon.
The No. 1 and No. 6 lines are expected to be the next to get the MTA's new batch of R262s as part of the 2025-2029 Capital Plan, according to an announcement made last Friday.
The move comes as part of multiple service upgrades planned for the Bronx and will retire the last 1980s-era subway cars serving the borough.
According to a study from Gothamist, the Nos. 1 and 6 ranked as the top two hottest subway lines with the highest amount of complaints about broken air conditioners over the last five years.
