A Hartford police officer was charged with DUI after police allegedly found him asleep at the wheel at a traffic light in New Britain over the weekend.

Officer Brenden Lytton has been placed on modified duty following the arrest, according to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department .

Lytton was arrested early Sunday when officers found him asleep in a vehicle stopped at a traffic light in the area of East Main Street, according to the New Britain Police Department . He was charged with operating under the influence and interfering with an officer, police said.

According to police, Lytton was fingerprinted and processed before being released on a promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Oct. 17.
