LINN COUNTY, Iowa — Authorities responded to a collision Monday on Interstate 380 involving a driver using a mobile device. Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Iowa State Patrol and local emergency services, arrived at the scene near the 35-mile marker. They say they found that Brooklyn Toering-Klima, 19, from Center Point, Iowa, was texting while driving a 2016 Volkswagen Passat, which rear-ended a 2019 Jeep Renegade. Terry Ackerman, 77, also from Center Point, was driving the Jeep and was taken to St. Lukes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Toering-Klima refused medical treatment at the scene.
