OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announced an additional arrest Wednesday in the first drug round-up of 2025, an operation that began Oct. 1.

Officials said that the sheriff’s office obtained 35 warrants on 23 persons based on controlled purchases of narcotics by undercover officers. The narcotics purchased included fentanyl, methamphetamine and prescription medication.

Deputies said that as of 11 a.m., 12 persons have been arrested.

The most recent arrestee is John Robert Richey, 41, who was charged with two counts of distributing meth and one count of trafficking meth. According to arrest warrants, these transactions took place in 2024.

Richey was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and was given a combined $150,000 surety bond.
