It’s hard enough to train for a marathon, but trying to prepare for the elements of Chicago’s weather, where temperatures have ranged from 21 to 87 degrees on race day, makes it an even bigger challenge.
NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Kevin Jeanes gathered the dates and weather for every Chicago Marathon to give a glimpse at what the weather typically looks like for the race -- and help runners prepare for potential conditions this year.
So far the forecast it looking close to average, with a high of 65 degrees and a low of 53 degrees.
No rain is expected and winds with be southeast at 10-15 mph.
The first Chicago Marathon dates back to 1905, but the modern marathon as we know it today took off in 1977.
