KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kay Barnes is now the temporary County Executive of Jackson County, Missouri. It comes after the recall election of Frank White on Tuesday, September 30.

Her swearing-in ceremony took place Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Jackson County Courthouse. After it was over, she took questions from reporters for more than five minutes. Barnes says it's an honor to have the position even though she'll only have it for at most 30 days.

"I have already enjoyed the chance to revisit some territory that was very familiar to me many, many years ago when I was a part of the Jackson County legislature," she said Wednesday.
