DESOTO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - Lack of rainfall has led to an official burn ban within DeSoto Parish.

On Thursday, October 9, Parish President Ernel Jones declared a burn ban because the parish "has not received adequate rainfall, and the lack of adequate rainfall increases the danger of fire."

The ban is in place until further notice, and Jones says violators will be met with heavy fines and penalties.
