Suffering with anxiety, Simone Hamill admits she probably didn’t go anywhere or socialise a decade ago.
But when her son started judo classes it not only reignited a spark for the sport she had enjoyed as a youth, it gave her the drive to help other women feel comfortable taking part.
After becoming a dedicated member of Hamilton Judo Club’s Inclusion class, she has been hailed for her efforts in creating a welcoming space for females and championing disability sessions.
Now, she has been honoured with JudoScotland’s Volunteer of the Year Award and credits the sport with totally changing her life.
