More than 100 volunteers participated in Renewable Water Resources’ Annual River Sweep on Oct. 9.

Trash and debris were removed from the Reedy River and Brushy Creek at ReWa’s Innovation Campus at 560 Mauldin Road in Greenville. Litter was also picked up along a portion of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail that runs through the campus.

Volunteers at this year’s event consisted of ReWa’s employees and nonprofit partners, including the Friends of the Reedy River and Conestee Nature Preserve.

ReWa has hosted the annual river sweep since the 1990s. The event is held in conjunction with the South Carolina Beach Sweep/River Sweep, organized by the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
