MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A new career center dedicated to supporting displaced federal workers and contractors opened in Montgomery County on Thursday.

Organizers say the goal of the Mobilize Montgomery Federal Workforce Career Center (FWCC) is a first-of-its-kind initiative to help the thousands of federal workers in the county who were impacted by job cuts and the government shutdown.

“This support will come in many forms from career coaching,” WorkSource Montgomery Executive Director Anthony Featherstone said, “...direct connections to new employment opportunities, professional development, and skills training.”
