Desert Foothills Library executive director tenders resignation

The Desert Foothills Library Association's Board of Directors announced Oct. 9 that Executive Director Debra Lay informed the library that she wishes to pursue other professional opportunities and has resigned.

The library’s Board of Directors has accepted Lay's resignation, according to the release.

Lay came to Desert Foothills Library in 2022 and became its executive director in March 2023. She has steered the library through some difficult times and led the library’s successful efforts to secure funding in the form of grants and donations.

The library’s board has asked Charity Lees to assume the executive director’s operations responsibilities on an interim basis.
