NEW HAVEN, Conn. — This week, signatures are being gathered and plans are being made to form a union at a 312-unit housing complex in New Haven called Sunset Ridge Apartments.
About three dozen people gathered at a press conference Thursday afternoon. Many of them held signs that spelled out exactly why they're coming together to form a union against their corporate landlord, Capital Realty.
Their collective message caught the eye of New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, who also showed up to lend his support.
Multiple residents spoke at the event and shared their problems and complaints regarding the complex. They said these issues have been building for years.
April Hedge noted she's lived at Sunset Ridge for 21 years under multiple landlords. However, she said she never saw one as bad
