An analysis of the social and economic benefits of New Mexico State Parks on surrounding communities in fiscal year 2024 was released in May by the Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University. It found the parks contributed more than 345 direct jobs, 464 indirect jobs, more than $28.5 million in labor income and $132 million in visitor spending around the state during that period, as well as to more than $40 million in production expenditures and $225 million in production-added spending by visitors. In addition, the analysis found the state parks contributed to nearly $80 million in increased state and federal tax revenue during that period.
