Top chefs and restaurateurs have joined scores of staff and customers in backing calls to reform Alberta’s food safety inspection system.

Industry leaders at a diverse selection of eateries — Braven, The Marc, The Hallway Cafe, Fox Burger, and Dolly’s Cocktail Bar — are in agreement that more needs to be done to deal with operators who are giving the industry a bad name.

In doing so, top chefs are opening up about how hard they work to keep a clean kitchen, and explain why they support introducing key elements of Toronto’s award-winning DineSafe model: colour-coded public signage for inspection results, and tougher enforcement.
