TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Shoshone Falls Grade was closed due to water flowing higher than usual, but is now open according to a release by the City of Twin Falls .
The closure was below the intersection to Dierkes Lake Park, but the park remained open.
Dierkes Lake’s water flow was unexpectedly high and was causing the pond at the bend in the road to overflow onto the pavement. The excess water was causing damage to the shoulder of the road, eroding part of the guardrail’s security.
Crews created a “ditch” over the road using plastic sheeting and sandbags, thus causing unsafe driving conditions.
Even though the road is cleared, the city reminds residents to pay attention to signs and follow all closure signs and respect barricades.
