Jeff “That Jeff Guy” Woollen sadly left our world on Aug. 31, at Swedish Medical Hospital.

He had just celebrated his 77th birthday when cancer of the tongue prevented him from speaking, eating and eventually breathing.

Born Aug. 12, 1948 in Los Angeles, Calif., he moved to Bellingham in 1971, had a couple kids and a family, then eventually found his way to Vashon Island near the late 1990s.

He loved Vashon so much he stayed here for the remainder of his life. Jeff was heavily involved in Drama Dock — he really found his confidence in the theater community here. With several major roles in productions such as “The Sound of Music,” “Annie,” “Oliver,” “Wizard of Oz,” he even co-wrote the music of an original adaptation of “Treasure Island: The Musical” for Drama Dock in the summer of 2005
