GROVE CITY, Ohio — The Grove City Division of Police identified a suspect who was fatally shot by police after allegedly shooting an officer Wednesday night. Authorities also released body camera footage of the incident Friday afternoon.

Grove City officers were called around 5:15 p.m. to a home in the 3800 block of Louise Court on a report of a burglary in progress, Stern said in a press conference.

A homeowner allegedly saw an unknown man inside with a gun, safely got away and called police. Stern said arriving officers set up containment and ordered the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Dominique Byrdsong, to surrender.

Byrdsong then reportedly barricaded himself inside the home, and the Grove City Strategic Response Team arrived at the scene, Stern said.
