WASHINGTON — Florida Sen. Rick Scott is leading a Republican effort to rename H Street in Northwest, D.C. between Connecticut Avenue and Vermont Avenue “Charlie Kirk Patriot Way” ─ in the wake of the right-wing activist's assassination in Utah.

Scott introduced the bill Friday, with co-sponsorship coming from Republican Sens. Mike Lee (Utah), Josh Hawley (Missouri), Bernie Moreno (Ohio) and Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee).

The founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent figure on the American right best known for his enthusiasm for debate, Kirk, 31, was shot to death during an appearance at Utah Valley University in September.
