SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Teacher of the Week goes to Karla Campbell, an 8th-grade English teacher at Lincoln Middle School!

Campbell said that her experience moving from Mexico to the United States, and one of her former teachers helping her learn how to read, inspired her to be a teacher.

"I realized that I wanted to become a teacher because I came to the U.S. from Mexico, and nobody knew what was going on with me," Campbell said. "I was very sad, I would cry, but there was one teacher who came to me and talked to me, and she figured out that I didn't know the language, so she would stay after school to teach me how to read. It was then that I wanted to do the same for my students."
