IMPERIAL COUNTY — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, as declared by Congress in 1987. It is a time dedicated to honoring survivors, remembering victims, and working toward a world free of abuse. This year’s theme is “Surviving to Thriving.”
“October is a time to remember those who have lost their lives, and work toward a world where everyone can live free from abuse,” Gina Vargas, executive director of WomanHaven in El Centro, told the Imperial Valley Press.
