A member of Danville City Council is out of the intensive care unit at a North Carolina hospital specializing in burn patients, a little more than two months after he was set on fire in a shocking July 30 attack.

Lee Vogler was moved out of the ICU at the UNC Health Burn Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Tuesday, his wife, Blair, reported in a Friday night update.

Vogler is expected to remain hospitalized for a few more months, but that time could he shaved with his recovery "progressing at an amazing pace," his wife stated.

The 38-year-old — who made history being the youngest member elected to council — was attacked July 30 at Showcase Magazine, where he worked as the director of marketing.
