This has been an amazing fall season around here. While it’s hard to remember one that wasn’t amazing, this year really popped.
I guess the expectations going into it were low. It barely rained all summer. Things were bone dry. It seemed like the leaves would wither, turn brown and drop.
Instead, the colors were brilliant as ever. I got out and enjoyed it, and will as long as it lasts. Bonanza Flat, Wolf Creek Pass, Mirror Lake, my own back yard, all of it just jaw dropping.
Aspen trees are weird. Whole forests of aspen are connected and function as a single organism, or so the scientists say. So whole aspen groves should behave about the same way, because they are all the same tree.
