CASS COUNTY, MI — A third man has been convicted of criminal sexual conduct in connection with the rescue of a 13-year-old girl during a 2024 drug raid in Benton Township.
Johnathon Barrett, 25, of Cassopolis, has been sentenced to 10-15 years in prison for third-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to Michigan State Police.
Barrett’s conviction follows a year-long investigation by the MSP Niles Post.
“The investigation began after a Benton Township drug raid by the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) rescued a 13-year-old girl sexually abused and provided methamphetamine by the men,” MSP officials said in a release.
Two Dowagiac men have also been convicted in the case involving the same victim.
