FLINT, MI -- The new state park being developed in Flint could have a project manager in place by the end of this week.
The county Board of Commissioners is expected to award the job to Lurvey Construction when it meets on Wednesday, Oct. 15, after agreeing to move forward with a contract with the Flint-based firm during a committee meeting last week.
County Parks & Recreation Commission Director Patrick Linihan said Lurvey received the highest score among three proposals from a panel including himself, a parks consultant, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Through an agreement with the DNR, the county parks system will be responsible and reimbursed for the ongoing maintenance and operation of the park and has been centrally involved in its development.
