BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Tax season will be here before we know it, and the United Way of Central Alabama is looking for volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program .
United Way is holding two information sessions this month. A virtual session will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and an in-person session on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteers during tax season will help people in the community prepare their tax returns.
United Way clarifies that you don’t have to have prior experience to volunteer, you just have to be willing and able to learn.
Volunteers go through a training process and get certified before tax season begins, and a staff member from United Way is there to help.
