The wildfire burning in the George H. Crosby Manitou State Park has grown to 260 acres, with officials confirming it was sparked by a lightning strike.

The Minnesota Incident Command System (MNICS) said on Saturday that while the fire continues to grow on Minnesota's North Shore, it is now 45% contained.

Northwest winds caused the fire to expand on Friday, adding an extra 50 acres to the overall fire surface area.

However firefighters have been making progress at limiting its spread, establishing a handline along with west and east sides of the perimeter, while support continues to be provided by water-scooping aircraft and a helicopter.
