An “accidental” fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage Saturday morning in Flamborough.
The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a fire at property on Brock Road in the community of Strabane, south of Freelton, shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 11, assistant fire chief Steve Welton said in an email.
He said when firefighters arrived at the building, which was being used to work on vehicles, it was “full of thick black smoke.” It was reported everyone had already escaped from the building before firefighters arrived, Welton added.
According to the fire department online incidents dashboard, 22 units responded to the fire.
Welton said firefighters were on scene throughout the afternoon fighting the fire, a process that required several tankers shuttling water to the property. Extin
