WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A stray emu spotted wandering near Hunt Lane continues to elude capture, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies first reported seeing the bird on Hunt Lane, noting it may have come from the Ed Edwards Road or Black Oak Road areas. The sheriff’s office initially asked for the public’s help in locating the animal’s owners.
Later, officials confirmed that the owners had been identified and were attempting to capture the emu. However, as of the latest update at noon on Oct. 11, efforts to secure the bird have been unsuccessful.
“If you happen to see it, please call the Sheriff’s Office so we can notify the owners,” the department said on social media.
