Carole Bayer Sager says her friend Diane Keaton was "very thin" when she visited the beloved actress "two or three weeks" ago.
Keaton died at the age of 79 on Saturday but no details of the circumstances have been revealed.
Songwriter Bayer Sager said she didn't see her friend as much this year because Keaton had relocated to Palm Springs, California, where she stayed after the state wildfires "damaged" the "inside" of her house in January.
However, Bayer Sager was "stunned" by "how much weight" Keaton had "lost" when she saw the star just weeks ago.
"I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin," the Grammy and Oscar-winner told People.
"She had lost so much weight.
"She had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything.
