GLOBE – Communities in the Globe and Miami area are being issued ‘SET’ evacuation statuses after heavy rains Sunday evening. The new orders from the Gila County Division of Emergency Management came an hour after ‘GO’ status orders were issued.
Globe mayor Al Gameros said that as of 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, the areas of Little Acres and Miami Gardens – as well as the surrounding areas – were under ‘GO’ status, meaning that anyone in those areas should be evacuating immediately.
“That’s the Russell Gulch area, Miami Gardens, they need to go now,” said Gameros.
The Sunday floods are the second this season, after severe flooding at the end of September left three people dead and severely damaged several local businesses and homes.
