The leader of Warwickshire County Council was allegedly assaulted and abused in Nuneaton town centre. Teenage Shire Hall leader councillor George Finch was reportedly attacked by a young man late on Friday night (October 10).

The Bedworth central representative was out with a female friend when the alleged incident took place. He was then allegedly labelled a 'facist' and 'racist'.

Police are understood to be investigating the incident. CoventryLive understands the Nuneaton educated council leader was not seriously injured but was left shocked as a result of the attack.

GB News has reported that Nigel Farage, Reform leader, is 'deeply upset' about the attack. There have been reports elsewhere in the country where other Reform members have been attacked or the subject of verbal abuse
