MCLEAN COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - A trucker from Mexico has been ordered to remain in the McLean County Jail before his trial on charges of trafficking almost $5 million worth of cocaine, a crime that could land him in prison for up to 120 years.
Adan Rangel Nieto, 36, appeared Thursday before Associate Judge Scott Black, who granted the state’s motion that Nieto stay in jail before his trial.
Prosecutors said Illinois State Police found 38 bricks of cocaine, each weighing three pounds, in the cab of Rangel Nieto’s semi.
State Police discovered the cocaine during a routine inspection last Wednesday, Oct. 8, on I-55, prosecutors said.
Invoices revealed Rangel Nieto was coming from Texas to deliver mattress materials to Ohio when he was arrested in McLean County. Authorities said they don
