The latest round of funding from the Choose How You Move transit initiative has been announced, and Mayor Freddie O'Connell's office says more than $100 million will go toward improvements to sidewalks, traffic signals, WeGo services and safety.  

That includes $31.4 million for 17 sidewalk projects in 10 neighborhoods, according to a press release from the mayor's office. Another $32.4 million will be allocated toward fiber network expansion to allow for the installation of smart traffic signals at 115 intersections across Davidson County. The smart signals are able to read traffic patterns and synchronize with other traffic signals on the same street, among other features.

WeGo Public Transit services will also see upgrades with a $23.6 million investment for new buses, improved stops
